Senior Software Engineer Core Team & Team Lead

@ Acquire

March 2020 - August 2021

At Acquire.io I contributed in two capacities that shaped both the product and the engineering culture.

Workflows Team Lead

I took responsibility for building the Workflows automation module from the design stage to completion while leading two junior engineers. The module enabled businesses to automate actions on the platform with triggers, conditions and actions, powering use cases like dynamic chat widgets and IVR flows. It quickly became one of the most showcased features during new client onboarding. To support its adoption at scale, I identified that repeated database queries during user visits were slowing the system and designed a caching solution that resolved the bottleneck. My leadership extended beyond development as I handled architecture decisions, mentoring, pull request reviews and collaboration with product to keep delivery aligned.

Core Engineering Team

I later joined the Core team where I worked directly with the CTO and VPs to address challenges affecting the entire platform. I led efforts to identify P50 and P99 API bottlenecks using Datadog, working with teams across the company to improve performance, resulting in an approximate forty percent improvement in API speed. I also parallelised the CI/CD build pipeline and optimised supporting steps, cutting build times by nearly half. My focus on engineering discipline helped shape the culture across teams by introducing pull request templates, establishing a feature branching strategy and ensuring code reviews for every integration. I collaborated closely with the QA team to define requirements and initiated automation testing practices. I worked with the DevOps team to standardise CI/CD pipelines and release processes, reducing friction and keeping teams aligned.

Toward the end of my tenure I started architecting a tenant based system that would distribute load across regions by routing requests based on subdomains. The plan used a central login system with Cloudflare Workers for edge routing, significantly reducing latency for customers once completed.

Overall the role strengthened both my engineering and leadership skills. I grew in system design, scalability improvements, CI/CD automation, cross functional collaboration and high accountability execution while working closely with the CEO and CTO.
